Admissions Frequently Asked Questions

When is the application deadline?
New students should complete all admission requirements at least two weeks prior to registration.

I've taken the SAT - do I have to take the Placement Test?
We are now accepting SAT, ACT, Accuplacer, Compass, and Asset Tests for placement purposes. If you have not taken such a test within the past five years, you must take the Placement test.

All or part of the placement test may be waived if you made the minimum scores on SAT Verbal / Writing / Critical Reading-470; Math-500; ACT English-19; ACT Reading-19; Math-20, and submitted proof of this to the Admissions Office. The official test results must arrive either by mail or by hand-delivery to CFCC in the original, sealed envelope from the awarding institution or agency.

Do I have to take developmental classes?
Developmental courses are required if the Placement test results indicate such a need. Developmental courses are designed to improve reading, English and math skills required for college success.

When do I need to send a copy of my high school transcript to CFCC?
An official transcript must be sent showing the date of graduation, so send it after your high school has posted your graduation information.

I am undecided about a program of study. Who do I talk to?
The Office of Career and Testing Services provides career testing and counseling to students who are undecided about a program/major of study. Call 362-7047 for information and for an appointment.

How will I know if I've been accepted?
Students will receive a letter of acceptance by mail once all of the admission criteria have been met:

I'm interested in a medical program. What are the requirements?
All medical science programs have selective admission requirements which may differ for each program. See a counselor at CFCC or call 362-7558 to speak to our Allied Health Specialist. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday. (Summer hours may vary - please call before coming.)

How do I apply for financial aid?
Complete a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" that can be obtained from a counselor or the Financial Aid Office at CFCC. Inquiries may be directed to CFCC's Financial Aid Department at 362-7055.

What is the full-time enrollment?
Twelve or more semester hours is considered full time.

Do I need to make an appointment to come in and talk to someone?
No, just stop in. Student Development Offices are open from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Friday. (Summer hours may vary - please call before coming.)

How much will I have to pay to attend CFCC for one semester?
Chart of Tuition and Fees. Residency status will be determined at the time of admissions. Tuition and fees are due at the time of registration. Questions concerning book prices may be directed to the CFCC Bookstore.

How do I know what classes to take?
All students are assigned an academic advisor who will assist with course selection.
