Blackboard
CFCC has licensed Blackboard Learning System to provide online courses.
Blackboard, Inc. provides a support website that anyone can access - students, instructors, or Bb admins - by creating a free account.
Things you'll find on Blackboard's support site:
- Reference manuals: click on Reference Center in the menu on the left, then click Blackboard Learning System to get the list of all the manuals
- Self-study tutorials
- Links to wonderful tutorials on other websites
Training
If you would like training, there are several options available to you:
- There is an instructor manual which is accessible both on the Blackboard (Bb) support website mentioned above, or in your course Control Panel, in the section labeled "Support".
- There are frequent training sessions held in the TTC - watch your email to see when these sessions are announced, and sign up.
- We have an online course, self-paced Introduction to Blackboard course - (Bb 101) - that only takes a couple of hours to complete. It is a good introduction to Blackboard!! All new Distance Learning instructors will be enrolled in this course when they submit their first course request form. Others interested in taking the course should contact Larolyn Zylicz to be enrolled in this course.
- To request a Blackboard course be created for you, whether for development or to use with students, use the Blackboard Course Request Form.
- You can also contact Larolyn Zylicz to arrange one-on-one training or training for your department
Login Procedures
- DY/NY, and IN sections: Students are enrolled in Blackboard curriculum courses after registration and at the end of each day of drop/add. Dropped students are unenrolled from Blackboard courses during drop/add. After drop/add, faculty will only be able to BLOCK a student from their course.
- Non-DL sections: Students will automatically be enrolled in Blackboard course sites by computer services.
- Student Username/Password convention:
