Program Costs
Tuition:
Tuition is FREE for fall and spring semesters. (Summer tuition is the responsibility of the student.)
Textbooks and Supplies:
You are responsible for purchasing all required textbooks and supplies for each class you take. Some classes, such as cosmetology, require students to purchase scrubs and other additional supplies. Your instructor will give you information on how to purchase supplies not found in the CFCC Bookstore.
Current textbook information and prices can be found on the CFCC Bookstore web page.
Fees:
Concurrent enrollment students must pay student activity, technology, and parking/security fees. To see the current schedule of fees, please see our Tuition and Fees web page.
Cosmetology Students: In addition to these fees, cosmetology students must purchase professional liability insurance through CFCC.
Student fees are due at the time of registration.
Admissions Guidelines
Age and Grade Requirements:
Students must be at least 16 years old to take a class that meets at CFCC.
High School Approval:
To enroll in this program, you must demonstrate that you are ready for the responsibility of taking college-level classes.
High schools will recommend you for this program based on your academic performance and demonstrated maturity level. High school principals will also verify that you are making satisfactory progress towards graduation.
College Approval:
You need to meet all college requirements for each class you want to take.
These requirements must be met before the class begins. Prerequisites for each course are listed in the course descriptions in the CFCC Catalog and Student Handbook.
Placement Tests:

Registration Process

Submit the one-time Gateway Application directly to the Gateway coordinator at your school.
Bring your approved Gateway Registration Card to the CFCC Downtown Wilmington or the North Campus on Late Registration Day to sign up for your classes.
Make sure your card is signed by your high school principal or his/her designee. (If you have not turned in an application or do not have approved registration card, you will need to return to your school to get these items before you can register for a CFCC class.)
Make sure your test scores are sent to CFCC before the first day of class. See our admissions web site for information about how to submit SAT or ACT scores.
